DELTA DIVISION UPDATE - February 16, 2012 03:30 CST

K5UZ
Delta Division Director
David Norris, K5UZ

Greetings Fellow Delta Division Members!

I hope all of you had a great Valentine's Day and Cupid put HK0NA and any other interesting QSO's in you logs- hi. This is just a short mid-month update with some news shorts, appointment announcements and Hamfest information; hence I will be brief.

We will be having our first monthly Delta Division Cabinet teleconference and our first Delta Division Emcomm focused teleconference in the next few days. I look forward to hearing from all our SM*#039;s, SEC's, Assistant Directors and Advisory Committee members and our LLAP.

Our Delta ARES Net Manager, Richard, NF5B along with our Section Managers and Section Emergency Coordinators are busily updating our NCS list as we head in to severe weather season. I want to thank Malcolm, W5XX — SM MS - for volunteering to update the list and also Richard, NF5B for providing his guidance and experience to our net. Hurricane season will be here before we know it and our part of the Gulf Coast may be due for a landfall this season.

A new amateur band was allocated this week in Geneva at WRC 12. The band is from 472 to 479 kHz as a secondary allocation to the amateur service. The measure was adopted in Plenary Monday morning. For the complete story go to the ARRL website www.arrl.org/news/amateur-radio-gets-secondary-mf-allocation-at-wrc-12 . Congrats to the US, ARRL and IARU representatives. Well done!

It is with great pleasure that I announce the following gentlemen have accepted assistant director appointments: In Mississippi, John F. Porter, W4KGD and in Louisiana, Gary Stratton, K5GLS. Congratulations and thank you for accepting the appointments!
